This version includes several mayor features that have been in the to-do list for quite a while: test runs have now attributes such as platform or operative system, test cases form now an ordered sequence that can be manipulated, test case status can be changed on multiple test cases easily, there is now the ability to reserve a test case log, so others will see it as 'taken' and testing effort won't get duplicated. There are some minor other improvements: usability improvements with some cool buttons introduced on the test case logs page, and most of the pending requests at the sourceforge site.
The new Bugzilla hooks mechanism to extend its UI is used now with great advantage. Patching is reduced to a minimum, just three files are modified on version 2.20. Probably patching can even be reduced to zero, but for that more cooperation from Bugzilla's developers is required.
Next version will turn towards tags. After using GMail for several months, I'm convinced that tags are a better way to classify information than a tree of folders. There will be tags everywhere, actually tags can replace test case groups altogether. I will continue through the path of AJAX, I believe it's delivering espectacular results. Additionally, I'd like to switch fully to templates and do some mayor code clean-up to make easier for other developers to join the project. This version will come after some time, probably next year. It will be probably version 1.0 because I think that Test Runner will be mature enough to be considered a first version. During this period, interim versions will be released as needed (hopefully not many) for bug fixing.
I have put a lot of effort in this version and I hope it becomes the best Test Runner version ever!
